Written: Why Telehealth/Virtual/Online Physical Therapy (PT)?

I am sure you may (or may not) have seen my written and video blog posts.  And taken a gander at my website and wondered – why?  Why would I do PT online when I could just go in person to PT?  Why would I pay cash versus going through my insurance?  Or, why do PT at all?  Even more importantly, why should I see YOU?

Here are your questions ANSWERED!!

Question 1: Why should I do PT?  Because…

  • Your momma told you so!  I’m kidding.
  • It is cheaper than the deductible for the MRI or XRAY you are pushing for.
  • It is less unreversible than having surgery (that may or may not work and you cannot undo).
  • It gives you a greater sense of control over your pain, injury, or condition than just taking a pill or having to “deal.”
  • It often does reduce or enable self-management of pain.  Sometimes it even completely cures pain!

Question 2: Why should I pay cash-pay with you versus using my insurance with someone else?  Because…

  • Many insurance co-pays and deductibles are becoming as expensive as cash-pay.
  • You know exactly what your sessions will cost upfront.
  • There are NO surprise charges.
  • You can try to submit to your insurance for reimbursement!  I will share your session notes upon request, and you can take the documentation and submit to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you.  My documentation is compliant with most (if not all) insurance company requirements.

Question 3: Why should I do Telehealth/Virtual/Online PT?  Because…

  • You can do it from home or from work on a lunch break!  You just need a quiet and private space with pets and children safely separated.  No transportation needed and, therefore, more time saved.
  • It is just as effective as in person visits.  If not more effective.  Simply explained – you have my undivided attention.  I am not double or triple booking you with other patients.
  • I can take photos/still screenshots of you and you can also watch via the video screen how you are moving, much like a mirror.
  • My focus is teaching you how to manage your pain.  Not making you reliant on me and my services.  I can teach you self-massage, self-treatment, self-assessment, etc.
  • If you do need hands on services, I will help you figure that part out.
  • I can see you without a referral from a physician for 3-4 weeks (depending on your home state).  No dancing around your doctor’s office and begging for a referral if you live in the states of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.  I can see you for an evaluation and treatment via direct access.
  • I will issue you a Home Exercise Program and show you the program before I email it to you.  My software has video and photo capability for demonstration!

Question 4: Why YOU?  Why should I see YOU?  Because…

  • I have 15 years of PT experience.
  • I went to an excellent school for undergraduate and graduate school, and obtained my doctorate of PT.
  • I obtained 2 certifications – Orthopedics and Sports – and have to do a lot to maintain those certifications.
  • I care, and will do my very best to tailor session(s) to you.  You have my undivided attention.
  • If you don’t know me, or aren’t sure, you can watch my Video Blog and read my Written Blogs.  It is a great way to get to know me!
  • I am transparent.  I will not try to sell you up the river.  If I don’t think I can help you, I will give you guidance of what to do next.
  • I will hold you accountable!  Every person who sees me will be expected to follow through with their Home Exercise Program and advice!
