~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Heal~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did you know it takes between 3-12 months to heal from Plantar Fasciitis (bottom of the foot and/or heel pain)? It is a real bugger – its faster to get and much slower to resolve. Try a few of my tips to get better faster
  • Stretch your foot and ankle before getting out of bed first thing in the morning
  • Wear shoes and/or supportive slippers around the house and avoid going barefoot at home
  • Get fitted for proper exercise sneakers and replace your shoes regularly
  • Consider getting a pair of over the counter orthotics/shoe inserts – the research has shown them to be as effective as a first line of defense against plantar fasciitis
  • Be patient. The average healing time frame is around 9 months!
  • Get treatment! Physical Therapy is an excellent way to knock it out!
Patience is definitely a virtue. And with featuring Plantar Fasciitis this month, you cannot ignore methods to improve patience. Some things that may help:
  • Accept your emotions but don’t dwell there for too long!
  • Reframe the situation:
    • Know that everything in life is temporary – what you are experiencing right now is not going to last forever.
  • Take an active role:
    • Start small and stay committed!
    • See your doctor and physical therapist, and take their advice!
  • Track your progress:
    • Don’t forget to look back on where you were and compare to where you are now once you start treating your ailment. It is easy to get lost in the weeds.
Hope this helps everyone! Send me a message to request an appointment if you find yourself still struggling on your own!
