Some questions to ask yourself:

  • Are your feet hurting you when you exercise or are on your feet for long periods of time?
  • How often do you replace your shoes? 
  • How many pairs of exercise sneakers do you have?
  • What kind of shoes do you wear for what kind of activities?
  • How do you care for your shoes?
  • How do you pick your shoes?
  • What kind of feet/arches do you have?

Don’t forget that things change as time goes on:

  • There will always be new shoe fads – tread carefully (pun intended) and make good choices.
  • Your feet and shoe size will change over your lifetime and with different activities. Did you know hiker’s feet can expand/grow with increased miles?
  • Don’t be afraid to have different shoes for different activities – it really does make a difference.
  • It is ok if a shoe brand or model does not work for you but it works for others – everyone’s feet are different.
  • And, yes, typically it is better to invest is better shoes. I have always made the joke – invest with your body or your wallet. It is your choice!
